EA and PopCap launch new Bejeweled

A new edition of the popular gem-swapping puzzle game Bejeweled has been announced for mobiles.

The key features include updated graphics and sound, and the ability for US gamers to play competitive multiplayer against others in the region.

Standard single player modes are also available, and the game will take advantage of vibration functions to emphasise different moves.

Travis Boatman, vice president of Worldwide Studios for EA Mobile, said that the game complements the platform by allowing "for a whole range of interesting interactions between players that was not available before - like the opportunity to chat with other opponents."

The game is currently available on all major carriers across North America and Europe.
