EA admits Dante's protest was a stunt
Publisher concedes that E3 religious outcry was staged by marketing agency
Electronic Arts has admitted that a protest staged outside the LA Convention Center during E3 last week about Dante's Inferno was staged by its viral marketing agency, reports News Sentinel.
The protest, which included about 20 people claiming to be against the title on religious grounds, was reported in a number of media outlets during the week.
But now EA has conceded that it was simply a publicity stunt - a move which may cause some consternation with real religious groups.
Dante's Inferno, inspired by The Divine Comedy, is being developed by Visceral Games for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Xbox 360 and PC platforms.
