E for All game career seminar detailed

IDG World Expo has announced the session line up for the Game Career Seminar scheduled to take place during the Entertainment for All Expo

IDG World Expo has announced the session line up for the Game Career Seminar scheduled to take place during the Entertainment for All Expo.

Marc Mencher of GameRecruiter.com will open the first day of the session with a keynote on how to break into the industry. On the second day, composer and founder of the Video Games Live Concert series, Tommy Tallarico, will deliver a keynote on making a successful independent career.

One of the highlights of the career seminar is an opportunity for pre-registered Game Career Seminar pass holders to pitch their game ideas to a panel of industry professionals including Dave Perry, Ru Weerasuriya, and Dave Kosak.

"I'm used to being the one pitching video game concepts, so it'll be nice sitting on the other side of the table," said twenty-year veteran of the video game business, David Perry. "Seriously though, E for All and Game Career Seminar have teamed up to create a fun contest that will hopefully inspire gamers to take their passion for gaming and make it a career."

Five "Pitch Your Game Idea" finalists will be chosen to battle it out on the main Gamer Stage in front of the E for All audience. The winner will receive an all-access pass to CMP Game Group's GDC in 2008.

"We created the Game Career Seminar series and the Pitch Your Game Idea contest for the express purpose of empowering creative people to get a foot in the door of game development," said Jamil Moledina, GDC's executive director.

"Since the seminar is taught by developers, who were all once passionate gamers themselves, the opportunity is there for creative and enterprising E for All attendees to make meaningful connections that can influence their careers."

The inaugural E for All Expo will take place in Los Angeles on October 18-21. The Game Career Seminar will be held on October 19-20.
