Dynasty Warriors 7 does 250,000 sales in Japanese debut
Long-running series shows no sign of decline as 3DS titles dig into top 10
Evergreen franchise Dynasty Warriors has dominated the Japanese weekly sales charts, with the game selling 253,000 units on the PlayStation 3.
Known as Shin Sangoku Musou 6 in Japan, what will be released in the West as Dynasty Warriors 7 outperformed the first week sales of its predecessor by as much as 50,000 units.
Although a Sony exclusive in Japan, an Xbox 360 version of the game will be released alongside the PlayStation 3 version on March 29 in North America, and on April 8 in Europe.
The rest of the Japanese chart has seen little meaningful movement, with only two other new entries in the top 10 - both of which are anime tie-ins unlikely to see release in the West.
3DS releases Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle and nintendogs + cats both held onto the same chart positions for the third week in a row. Professor Layton at number three sold 29,000 units this week and nintendogs + cats 24,000 units.
Hardware results for all consoles will be released tomorrow.
