DS closes gap on PSP in Japan
Sales figures show decreases in Sony's handheld sales while Nintendo's portable gains
The Sonly PlayStation Portable held onto its top position in the Japanese hardware sales chart, selling 61,181 units - although the Nintendo DS is closing in at 57,398 units, according to the latest figures from Media Create for the week ending August 3.
The Nintendo Wii improved incrementally on its position last week, selling 41,109 units, while conversely the PlayStation 3's sales declined to 9508 units.
Shortly behind the PS3 was the PlayStation 2 at 9045 sales, while the Xbox 360 lagged behind at 5359 units.
