DRIVER San Francisco

UK Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt listens in on sound mixing at Pinewood Studios.

17 November 2010

Jeremy Hunt, the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport today visited Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire to experience first-hand the innovative and cutting-edge creativity currently being practiced at the Studios.

The Secretary of State toured Pinewood’s digital content services facility to see a major new video game, Ubisoft Reflections’  Driver®: San Francisco , being mixed in The Pressburger Theatre. He went behind the scenes on some of the Studios’ world famous sound stages where filming is currently underway on a number of high profile productions and visited Pinewood’s globally unique underwater stage.

He visited Centroid 3D, a tenant company on the Pinewood lot that specialises in motion capture for film and television for an interactive 3D demonstration and also met with senior industry figures to discuss the latest developments in the UK film industry.

The visit gave Pinewood and some of the tenant companies on site the chance to show off the wide range of skills and creative talent that make the Studios one of Europe’s leading creative centres of excellence.

Andrew M Smith, Pinewood Group Corporate Affairs Director commented: “We are really pleased to have been able to host Jeremy at Pinewood today. There is so much to see at the moment and some of the UK’s most exciting creative talent is now working here. I was especially pleased that Jeremy was able to see first-hand the sound mixing for Ubisoft’s Driver San Francisco. Pinewood has developed good relationships with the video games industry in recent months and we’re seeing some big budget games using our facilities. As the boundaries between film and video games continue to merge, our experienced team of sound mixers and editors are able to offer a unique perspective to game developers.”
