The Story

In The Longest Journey players took on the role of April Ryan, an 18-year-old girl whose destiny was foretold in the prophecies. Having to save the balance between the twin worlds of science and magic, April`s epic journey took the genre by storm and redefined what an adventure game could be.

In Dreamfall, which takes place a decade after The Longest Journey, players can finally revisit the epic universe. Not only will those who enjoyed the first game find out what really happened to April, new players can start afresh by following the new protagonist, Zoë Castillo, as she becomes involved in a conspiracy threatening the very future of mankind.

Casablanca, 2219 -- Zoë Castillo is, at first glance, a very normal young woman, but she is about to get involved in a conspiracy that spans parallel worlds and hundreds of years. Something is affecting the world -- static interference is disrupting technology, causing Zoë to see visions of a ghostly presence that are inhabiting a black house in a wintry landscape. As Zoë embarks on a journey where she eventually discovers a magical world behind our own, she will need to make decisions about what's important to her and what she's willing to risk for the people she loves. Through her soul-searching, Zoë will need all her courage to unravel the dangerous web in which she, and the world around her, is entangled.

The Setting

Dreamfall's blends fantasy and the futuristic within an original universe that spans three worlds - the world of science named Stark, the world of magic named Arcadia, and a frightening realm called the Winter. Dreamfall features dozens of exotic locations, from a futuristic Casablanca in Stark, to a magic metropolis in Arcadia; from a strange city at sea, to vast subterranean caverns, and a dark necropolis; from the high-tech halls of a Japanese corporation to the Winter, where a black house holds a terrifying secret.

The Characters

In Dreamfall, three lives are intertwined and destined to collide. These lives are caught up in momentous events that will change them forever. Follow and control Zoë, April, and Kian through a fascinating and original storyline that weaves the past, present, and future into a unique and exciting gameplay experience.
Zoë Castillo, a young woman at a crossroads who is desperately searching for her best friend, gets involved in a conspiracy that will take her on a dangerous journey across this world - and others.
