DOUBLE THE PRESTIGE
Mobile Developer Macrospace Scoops Two Prestigious BAFTA Nominations
Tuesday 25 January 2005/...
Macrospace, the acclaimed European studio of mobile entertainment publisher Sorrent Inc., today announced that it has received two nominations in the upcoming BAFTA Games Awards. In an ever-growing and highly competitive field, Macrospace has found itself in the enviable position of having two of its most popular products both contending for an award in the Mobile Game category.
The two Macrospace games - Fatal Force: Earth Assault and Ancient Empires - were developed by Macrospace's experienced in-house team and have already picked up high scores from reviewers across the globe. Critical acclaim has been unanimous across the board with both titles receiving Editor's Choice awards from respected US game site IGN.com. Fatal Force also collected the highly coveted "Best Mobile Game" accolade at the 4th Annual Mobile Choice Consumer Awards. Both titles have been developed from original intellectual property, showing that mobile gaming can create successful new franchises independently of other forms of interactive entertainment.
"It's a great honour to be nominated for not one but two BAFTAs, and we see this as recognition not just of our success in this growing market, but also of our commitment to mobile as a new and unique gaming platform," said Kristian Segerstrale, VP of Production at Macrospace. "It's immensely rewarding to see that engaging gameplay wins out on any platform, irrespective of whether the game has a big brand attached."
About the games:
Fatal Force is an all-action, scrolling platform game with several unique innovations. Featuring Bluetooth® co-operative and versus multiplayer modes, online high score tables with player ranking and downloadable maps for skirmish mode, Fatal Force uses the inherent networking capabilities of the mobile platform to create a totally unique and hugely enjoyable game.
Ancient Empires is a user-friendly strategy game whose accessibility belies its depth and lasting appeal. With fantastic, detailed graphics and sophisticated AI to overcome, players must order and manoeuvre their units through a series of confrontations and epic battles. Bringing console-quality gameplay to mobile phones, Ancient Empires serves as yet another example of Macrospace's flair and commitment to excellence.
