Doodle Jump

Popular iOS title gets hopped up with an Easter update.

UNIVERSAL CITY, CA, & NEW YORK CITY, NY February, 22, 2011 – Doodle Jump players across the globe will wake up to find an Easter themed update to one of the world’s top iPhone and iPod touch apps today as Universal Pictures and Lima Sky launch the first film crossover into a mobile game.  The free update will allow players to unlock the secret Easter theme within the game and play as the character “E.B.” from Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s live action/CG animated comedy Hop.

Hop is the second film from Universal and blockbuster filmmaker Chris Meledandri’s ( Despicable Me) Illumination Entertainment.  Blending state-of-the-art animation with live action, Hop tells the comic tale of Fred (James Marsden), an out-of-work slacker who accidentally injures the Easter Bunny (Russell Brand) and must take him in as he recovers.  Hop is helmed by Tim Hill, director of the blockbuster film Alvin and the Chipmunks and produced by Chris Meledandri’s Illumination Entertainment.  The film will be released April 1, 2011.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Universal on this crossover of Hop and Doodle Jump," said Igor Pusenjak, the President and co-founder of Lima Sky.  "Doodle Jump players have always enjoyed when we introduce new characters and themes to the game, and allowing them to play as the lovable “E.B.” from Hop will be a special treat.”

“Lima Sky has created a beautifully designed update that combines the character of ‘E.B.’ with the addictive game play of Doodle Jump within a colorful brand new Easter theme,” said Director of Mobile for Universal Partnerships & Licensing Calvin Lim.  “ Hop and Doodle Jump are a great combination and this update is just a sneak peek of things to come.”

The new update to Doodle Jump features the star of Hop, the Easter Bunny’s son, “E.B.,” who has been groomed since birth to take over the family business. Users can unlock the secret Easter theme and the character, “E.B.,” by setting their name in the end-game screen to “Hop.”  The free update is available for download starting today and is included with all new download purchases of Doodle Jump.

In Doodle Jump, players guide a lovable character, “Doodle The Doodler,” on his journey up a sheet of graph paper. Using some of the most subtle and accurate tilt controls in existence, players will now be able to help “E.B.” spring up to towering heights as they compete for high scores. Spoofed by Jimmy Fallon on Late Night, used as a fashion statement by a Lady Gaga dancer, mentioned on The Big Bang Theory, and obsessively played by celebrities from Rainn Wilson to the Jonas Brothers, Doodle Jump has permeated pop-culture since its release in March 2009. Doodle Jump was recently named by Apple as the #1 All-Time Top Paid U.S. iPhone App, and has been enjoyed by millions of players worldwide.
