Dominions 3: The Awakening

Set to star in the Three Moves Ahead podcast.

News Release: For Immediate Release

Hampstead, NC, 24 June 2009

Way back when we Americans used to read about our electronic entertainment in the form of dead trees (apparently this is still popular in Europe) there was a magazine called Computer Gaming World. Later it was renamed Games For Windows and soon thereafter died. We're sure it was a coincidence.

Computer Gaming World had a really great feature called Tom vs. Bruce. It was a lot like Joe Versus The Volcano, only it didn't involve Tom Hanks, or a volcano, and well, it wasn't a movie. Although if it was a movie it would be far more entertaining than the majority of garbage that is excreted from Hollywood these days. Tom vs. Bruce was an after-action review written by two of the most brilliant writers in the industry. Their genius especially shone when reviewing games we publish, like the Dominions series. And yeah, guess they were pretty good with other company's games, too.

Alas, with the demise of Games For Windows nee Computer Gaming World Tom vs. Bruce was turned into a beautiful memory on gossamer wings of a more gentler era of gaming journalism. Some articles were later presented by 1UP, but these were nothing more than reprints and not new Tom vs. Bruce misadventures in gaming.

Until now. Three Moves Ahead, Troy Goodfellow's awesome strategy gaming podcast (called "the perfect strategy podcast" by Soren Johnson, lead designer of Civilization IV) has brought back Tom vs. Bruce and brought it back big time. Expanding the cast of characters from the original two it is now Tom vs. Bruce vs. Troy vs. Julian.

No longer confined to print, the audio attack of blistering trash talk, tactics, and insight by the four notable strategy gaming journalists (Troy is of course a freelance writer currently working with Crispy Gamer and Julian writes for Gamers With Jobs) makes for an entertaining listen.

The foursome have now set their sights on Dominions 3: The Awakening. Over the course of several upcoming Three Moves Ahead episodes the four will take Dominions 3 and give it a multi-player spanking, lovingly detailing the rise and fall of their Pretenders as they wage unremitting holy war upon each other. If you're a fan of Dominions 3 this is a must listen. If you're not familiar with Dominions 3 this is a must listen. If you don't own a computer, have no idea what a podcast is, and want us to get off your lawn this is still a must listen. Hearing these four play Dominions 3 is going to be just that good.

And just when you're running around squealing like a school girl at her Sweet Sixteen party just thinking about Tom vs. Bruce vs. Troy vs. Julian and Dominions 3 it gets better! There will be prizes! Yep, listeners will get a chance to win...well, we won't say what because you need to listen to Three Moves Ahead! Full details will be discussed on an upcoming episode, so bookmark today.
