Develop in Liverpool

Sony's keynote to be presented in full HD stereoscopic 3D.

Sony Computer Entertainment's senior director Mick Hocking will explain why games are the killer content for the 3D revolution during his Develop Liverpool keynote, which he’ll present in full HD stereoscopic 3D* at the city’s Odeon Liverpool One Cinema.

Following an acclaimed launch in 2009, Develop returns to Liverpool’s Hilton Hotel on 25 November. Mick Hocking will open the conference with his keynote Seeing is Believing: 3D a New Creative Medium for Games.

The presentation will give the audience an exciting insight into the future of 3D for games as Hocking takes the audience through case studies on recent 3D games, highlighting the lessons learned by Sony during two years of work converting many of its leading titles.

He will also look at the developing 3D market and the key factors that will drive its growth as well as sharing tips on how to convert games to 3D, and how 3D has changed the visual language of the screen.

“I’m really excited about being able to give this keynote, as I’ll be taking the delegates through a selection of the latest stunning 3D games in full HD 3D,” commented Hocking.

“I’ll also be sharing some of the unique tricks and techniques required to create a top quality 3D gaming experience.”

Mick Hocking is in charge of the WWS Stereoscopic 3D team and is group studio director for Evolution Studios, SCE Studio Liverpool and BigBig Studios. The Stereoscopic 3D Team has been pioneering 3D game development for the last two years, drawing upon their wealth of previous experience working with high end 3D simulators for F1 and Flight Simulation.

Funny glasses will be provided.
