DeNA reports record operating income and net sales
Mobage owner shows sharp upturn as quarterly sales hit ¥31,955 million (£236m)
Japanese internet company DeNA has announced record profits and sales for the quarter ending March 31, 2011 - with net sales of ¥31,955 million (£236 million) for the quarter and quarterly operating income reaching ¥15,736 million (£116 million).
The new sales record represents a 67.5 per cent year-on-year quarterly increase, with operating income jumping by 60.3 per cent since the same quarter last year.
Full year figures were similarly increased, with sales more than doubling from ¥48,102 million (£357m) in FY 2009 to ¥112,728 million (£837m) and operating income rising from ¥21,265 million (£157m) for FY 2009 to ¥56,096 million (£417m) in 2010.
The division of DeNA's sales remains largely similar to previous years, with the company's social networks contributing the lion's share of income. DeNA's Mobage service is the largest contributor to that sector, with a smartphone browser introduced in February assisting the profit growth.
In October of 2010, bought mobile developer Ngmoco for $403 million, part of a larger plan to develop an international presence to build on the company's impressive market penetration in it home territory.
