Demo Ship Simulator 2006 released

HAARLEM-The Netherlands- June 9th 2006- Leading publisher Lighthouse Interactive and Dutch developer VSTEP today released the demo version of the revolutionary new sim game "Ship Simulator 2006".

The demo will let the player steer a patrol boat in the port of Rotterdam, the largest port in Europe. As the skipper of the boat you have to steer to different way points while watching out sharply for passing container ships and also having to save a drowning person. Meanwhile you're getting a tour of the Rotterdam port.

Pjotr van Schothorst, Technical Director at VSTEP and producer of the game: "The demo offers a good impression of what people can expect from the final game, especially in combination with the trailer, which shows more ships and features and weather conditions. As for the demo, we have chosen the harbour patrol vessel, because it offers a nice balance in responsive steering and realism. The ship handling you accidentally learn in the demo is usable in real life!"

Erik Schreuder, CEO of Lighthouse Interactive adds: "Ship Simulator 2006 promises to be a great new addition to the simulation genre and next week's launch is eagerly anticipated. We are excited to announce the playable demo, which will allow people a quick and tasty sample of the feel and gameplay, not to mention the superb water effects and graphics."

About Ship Simulator 2006

Ship Simulator 2006 is a revolutionary new game that puts players at the helm of some of the most varied and detailed ships to be found at sea, where they will need to perform a multitude of tasks, all set within a stunning 3D environment. Players will take control of a wide array of ship types, from massive cargo ships to speedboats, yachts, water taxis and even the mighty Titanic. The waters you sail are also as varied as the ships, from the biggest harbours in the world, such as Rotterdam and Hamburg, to the calm aqua marine waters of the Thai Phi Phi Islands. Gamers will experience how challenging it is to steer the Titanic through shallow water, or just how it feels to navigate a cargo tanker or tug boat - including how diverse the controls are. Ship Simulator 2006 offers attractive gameplay to a variety of people, from professional sailors to amateur watersport enthusiasts.

The playable demo weighs about 90 MB and is available from one of these mirrors:
