December is PSN's highest revenue month to date
US digital sales climbed 155% on last year, says Sony
Sony has released more sales figures from its record-breaking Christmas period, confirming that not only did hardware fly off shop shelves - 3.8 million PS3 units were sold during the five week Christmas period - but PSN revenue also hit an all-time high.
In total, PSN revenue increased by 155 per cent in North America on December 2008, reports Kotaku, making it the single highest revenue month to date for the network.
Sony confirmed its most downloaded game of the month was Final Fantasy VIII, while Q-Games' PixelJunk Shooter was just behind it.
In a statement from Patrick Seybold, SCEA's senior director of corporate communications and social media, it was confirmed that December 2009 was "the single highest selling month for PS3 hardware and software since its launch in the US."
As previously reported, hardware sales leapt by a huge level and software sales were also up - 60 per cent on last December.
