Deal or No Deal hits one million downloads

TV show adaptation proves hugely popular

The mobile videogame version of hit TV show Deal or No Deal has been downloaded more than one million times according to creator Mobliss and licensor Endemol USA.

"At Mobliss, we have been committed to building our mobile games business and the success of Deal or No Deal really validates our decision to continue to work with top brands to create casual gaming experiences that consumers want on their mobile phones," said John Loschky, VP of Program Management at Mobliss.

The game takes its cues from the US version of the TV show notably presented by Noel Edmonds in the UK. Players must choose a briefcase that contains a random amount between USD 0.01 and USD 1 million.

As each round progresses, players have to decide whether or not to accept an offer from the mysterious "banker" or to hold on and see if their case contains the million-dollar jackpot. Once a decision is made, the game is over, and the player leaves with the banker's offer or whatever's in the case.

"With the continued success of its TV counterpart, we anticipate that subscriptions and downloads of the Deal or No Deal mobile game will only increase over time in not only the US, but also International markets because of the new Spanish version," Loschky added.

Endemol USA described the mobile version as "a huge win for everyone involved". Unless the case is empty, anyway.
