The category receiving the most submissions was 'Best Direction' which received 112 entries; closely followed by 'Best Visual Design'.

Professor Andrew Hugill, Director of De Montfort University's Institute of Creative Technologies: "The number, breadth and depth of submissions for the festival have been fantastic. We are getting lots of enquiries from all over the world and it is likely people will be attending from many countries. This is a great response and I would just like to remind everyone to register via the festival website if they intend to come."

Over 80 hours of viewing was required to shortlist the number of films submitted, some of which were subtitled.

The festival, which will take place at the University's campus centre, will show case the award nominations and winners, and some of the latest Machinima films and games trailers, and is expected to attract Machinima makers world-wide. The festival is supported by the Academy of Machinima Arts Sciences (AMAS) and will include workshops which will cover many of the aspects of making Machinima.

People wishing to attend the festival should visit http://www.MachinimaEurope.co.uk.
