David Helgason invests in Raw Fury as indie publisher raises $600,000
Company also enables staff to take stakes in the business, plans to use funds to increase console releases
Raw Fury has completed a seed funding round to the tune of $600,000 and gained some significant investors in the process.
Perhaps the most notable is David Helgason, founder of Unity and newest member of UK firm Lockwood Publishing. It has not been stated how much Helgason contributed to the round.
The round was led by previous Raw Fury investor and board member Karl Magnus Troedsson, who first contributed to the company's growth back in July 2016. Troedsson is also founder of Loot Spawn and runs an investment boutique for games start-ups.
Also investing was entrepreneur Rikard Lindström, who has previously back a number of games and tech firms, including King, Spray and Kry.
A blog post detailing the round reveals the fundraising was also an opportunity for Raw Fury staff to take stakes in the company. Team investments were led by Callum Underwood, who joined the company earlier this year.
The $600,000 will be used to "further bolster Raw Fury's efforts to bring its catalog to console platforms", something the publisher describes as "the most outstanding priority for 2018."
It will also used to sign even more games that the firm has originally forecast for 2018, and to hire extra team members to handle this growth. A larger funding round is planned for the near future.
