Dancing Stage goes SuperNOVA!

New Dancing Stage title for PlayStation 2 designed to cater for novices and hard-core fans alike

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH's eternally popular Dancing Stage series continues to innovate and entrance, with the publisher announcing Dancing Stage SuperNOVA for PlayStation 2 will be released in February 2007.

The original and best dance series, the Dancing Stage games have sold over two million copies across Europe to date, and Dancing Stage SuperNOVA adds a wide range of clever new ideas to the basic premise. As with its predecessors, Dancing Stage SuperNOVA invites the player to attempt to match a series of complex moves using rapid foot movements and a dance mat controller (available separately). As well-known dance tracks play, a succession of arrows move up screen and the player must match these by moving their feet on to the corresponding arrow on the dance mat. The better the player gets, so the combination of moves gets more complex - and that's just the beginning!

Designed to introduce newcomers to the series while entertaining long-term fans of the series, Dancing Stage SuperNOVA features a Tutorial Mode designed to ease new users into the game, while a super-fast 'Stellar Master' Mode will test even the most hard-core Dancing Stage fan! The competitive element of the game is also expanded, with a 'Battle' Mode allowing users to compete in a head-to-head with a second player, in a dance-off where failure to match the arrows as fast as the opponent results in instant dismissal.

The popular 'Calorie Counter' Mode has also been expanded. If used as part of a fitness regime, previous Dancing Stage games have tracked how many calories the player has burned while playing the game. Dancing Stage SuperNOVA takes this one step further by offering a full 'Work Out' wherein players can save their personal details to memory card and create a fitness schedule wherein they can work out to individual songs or create a playlist for a longer session. The game is also compatible with the EyeToy USB camera, and features elements where the hand movements of the player are also registered during play, extending the need for co-ordination.

Over 50 specially-created tracks will be on offer, along with an addition number of recognised modern day and classic pop tracks. These include 'Romeo' by Basement Jaxx, Lady Sovereign's 'Hoodie', 'Right Here, Right Now' by Fat Boy Slim and A-ha's classic 'Take on Me'. Videos will also accompany the tracks, playing as a backdrop to the moving icons.
