Dan Murray appointment
Industry expert joins Foundation 9 as Director of Business Development.
As director of business development, Murray will foster and build upon Foundation 9’s existing relationships with leading game publishers and entertainment brands, while identifying new opportunities to grow the company. To support this effort, Dan plans to hire at least two new members to the existing team.
With more than 500 games released, and eight development studios around the world, Foundation 9 occupies a unique niche within the game industry: the world’s largest independent game developer. The company works in partnership with leading game publishers and entertainment brands to deliver high quality interactive entertainment to market on their behalf. Recent Foundation 9 Entertainment releases include Marvel Super Hero Squad: Infinity Gauntlet, Deadliest Warrior, Zumba, Front Mission Evolved, Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing and many more.
“As the game industry evolves, new technology comes available and opportunities for digital distribution expand, Foundation 9 Entertainment finds itself uniquely positioned to grow our business,” said James North-Hearn. “As Director of Business Development, Daniel Murray combines the industry expertise, the strategic vision, and strong relationships to guide that growth.”
Murray draws on a detailed understanding of the industry, gained from working closely with both publishers and developers. He joined the company in 2006 as the company secured investment from Francisco Partners facilitating the acquisition of additional studios. Murray participated in the acquisition process. In 2008, he turned his attention from independent developers to large game publishers as he transitioned into a business development role, with a focus on Southern California based publishers including Activision Blizzard, EA, Warner Bros., THQ and Disney. Previously, Dan worked within the entertainment industry, most notably founding Apartment A Productions.
“This is a very exciting time to be at Foundation 9 Entertainment,” said Dan Murray. “We’ve enjoyed long-standing and prolific relationships with the best game publishers in the world. It’s my goal to continue to foster and build those relationships, leveraging the talent, deep multiplatform technical skills, and worldwide development resources of Foundation 9 to create great entertainment in partnership with those publishers.”
