Sound Blaster X-Fi technology will give participants a winning edge in audio as they compete in Monza for prizes worth $435,000.
For Immediate Release
London; 28th September 2005: Creative (NASDAQ: CREAF) a worldwide leader in digital entertainment products, announces that it has been appointed the official supplier of sound cards to the Grand Final of the World Cyber Games (WCG) being held from 18 to 22 October in the world-famous Formula 1 Autodromo at Monza, Italy. This is the first time that Europe has hosted this world-class gaming tournament, described as the gaming equivalent of the Olympics.
"Last year's Grand Final, in Singapore, confirmed that the WCG is the largest computer and video game festival ever, hosting 679 national representatives from 67 countries to compete for the world-best gamer titles in eight official games," says Hyong-Seok Kim, CEO of International Cyber Marketing, global organiser of WCG. "It proved that virtual games can be an effective vehicle of communication for young people around the world. We expect it to set new records this year."
The organiser expects 700 gamers to attend from 70 countries in October. The WCG theme, Beyond the Game, signifies the WCG commitment to harmony and friendship among world youth through cyber games. The Grand Final will include a wide range of social events, exhibitions and other entertainment for non-gamers, making the WCG a cultural festival as well as the premier gaming event of the year.
"This event will enable many of the world's leading competitive gamers to experience Sound Blaster X-Fi technology as they game on the PCs," comments Jean-Marc Dupuis, Joint-General Manager of Creative Labs Europe. "We think they will be amazed at the way it enables them to 'feel' the action as it unfolds and 'sense' where hidden enemies may be lurking. Sound Blaster X-Fi, and in particular our Fatal1ty signature series, is ideal for gaming because it offloads CPU resources. As a result, full-speed frame rates are maintained while the player enjoys the ultimate in immersive audio - even surround sound over stereo headphones!
"Sound Blaster has always had a very close link with game development and the gaming community. We are very pleased to be the exclusive official supplier of these high-performance sound cards to this event. We look forward to an exciting competition in Monza."
