Cory Barlog and Peter Molyneux headline Devcom 2018

God of War's creative director and the founder of Lionhead kick-off the line-up at the pre-Gamescom dev conference

God of War creative director Cory Barlog and 22Cans founder Peter Molyneux will headline Devcom 2018, the developer conference attached to Europe's leading consumer event Gamescom.

Sony Santa Monica's Cory Barlog was creative director God of War, which is perhaps the leading contender for game of the year, and certainly one of the biggest commercial hits. In his keynote, Barlog promises "a very personal insight" into the development of the game, which has been praised for its handling of the father-son relationship at its core.

Providing the other keynote is Peter Molyneux, a game designer with a career so long and storied that he was awarded an OBE in 2004. Molyneux has not made many public appearances in recent years, but he will headline Devcom with a "Classic Post Mortem" of Fable, which was made by the new defunct Lionhead Studios.

The Devcom line-up will also include Media Molecule co-founder Siobhan Reddy and the veteran designer Richard Garriott.

Devcom will take place in Cologne, Germany on August 19 and 20, the two days leading up to Gamescom. There will also be a "Pitch & Match @ gamescom" event on August 21, where developers can meet and network with publishers in short meetings.

Devcom is currently accepting pitches from speakers for this year's conference. You can find more information about the event on the official website.

GamesIndustry.biz is a media partner for Devcom. We will attend the show with assistance from the organiser.
