CompUSA Provides Gamers with Power-Ups and Pac-Man at the World Series of Video Games, Presented by Intel

CompUSA Sponsors Gamers' Weekend Extravaganza in Dallas– Ft. Worth, July 5-8

DALLAS---As thousands of gamers prepare for the challenge of their lifetime at this weekend's The World Series of Video Games (WSVG), presented by Intel, CompUSA is standing by ready to help them power up for competition. CompUSA today announced its sponsorship of the Dallas stop for the WSVG event, taking place from July 5-8 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas.

At the event, CompUSA will be set up as a "pit stop" for gamers searching for that extra boost to help them during the competition. The company will also have an on-site store stocked full of equipment for gamers looking to upgrade their computer performance "on the spot" to help stay competitive during the tournament. A diverse array of gaming products will be available including video cards, sound cards, game controllers, keyboards, gaming headsets, CPU coolers, USB cables and Fire Wire cables.

"With some of the best gamers in the U.S. competing, it's serious business, and when they need computer help, they need it fast," said Paul Ewert, executive vice president and general merchandising manager of CompUSA. "Gamers are some of our most loyal customers and this is why we're excited to sponsor this event and be on the ground floor to support the participants."

With its own heritage of providing state-of-the-art gaming technology for more than two decades, CompUSA is also bringing back a blast from the past. While some gamers will be revving up at the CompUSA station, others will be traveling back in time to when Pac-Man ruled.

The company is inviting event participants to try their gaming skills at video arcade games made popular in the 1980's including Pac-Man, Joust and Defender. In addition to the classics, CompUSA will also give gamers the chance to compete among each other on several of today's most popular gaming consoles, connected to large plasma TVs.

CompUSA will also feature the award winning Novint Falcon game controller, for attendees to test-drive. The Falcon is the first high-fidelity, three dimensional interactive touch device for the home PC, allowing users to feel weight, shape, texture, dimension, dynamics, 3D motion and force effects when playing enabled games. CompUSA will have a limited number of Falcon controllers available for purchase at the WSVG event.

Whether gamers want to power up or play Pac-Man, CompUSA will be there throughout the competition supporting participants at one of the country's most elite gaming tournaments.
