Cold Fear Headed For Silver Screen

PARIS, APRIL 3RD 2006 - DARKWORKS S.A., a leading French video game developer, announced that it has granted an option for the motion picture rights of its 2005 action-horror title "COLD FEAR" to production houses AVATAR FILMS and SEKRETAGENT PRODUCTIONS.

"We are confident in AVATAR's and SEKRETAGENT's ability to translate "COLD FEAR"'s storyline on the silver screen and are looking forward to a creative relationship" said Antoine VILLETTE, President of DARKWORKS.

According to GAMEPRO (review: 4.5/5), "Cold Fear is an impressive achievement, and the first game to offer a serious alternative to the venerable Resident Evil series. Resident Evil 4's massive arsenal gives it an edge, but Cold Fear's maneuverable controls are a huge advantage. Call it a tie."

Gaming zeb site NEXT LEVEL GAMING (review: 89%) said of "COLD FEAR": "Cold Fear is a great addition to the Survival Horror market. Many have failed up against the likes of Capcom's Resident Evil and Konami's Silent Hill franchise. Hopefully we will see more from Darkworks and Ubisoft, because this is a very good game."

Released in 2005 by UBISOFT Entertainment on X-Box, PlayStation 2 and PC, "COLD FEAR" won critical acclaim from numerous magazines and web-sites. Sales figures passed the 500 000 copies mark (worldwide) in November 2005.

Founded in 1998, DARKWORKS is a leading video game studio based in Paris, France. The studio previously released "ALONE IN THE DARK: THE NEW NIGHTMARE" with INFOGRAMES in 2001 on Dreamcast, PlayStation and PC (1.4m copies sold worldwide) and is currently working on its third title, an ambitious next-generation action-adventure game. The studio is headed by Antoine VILLETTE and Guillaume GOURAUD, its cofounders.
