Codemasters pulls plug on RF Online

Euro and US servers to shut down after failing to reach agreement with Korean developer

UK publisher Codemasters is to shut down the servers for the massively multiplayer online game RF Online in Europe and North America.

The company said that it was unable to reach a deal with Korean developers of the title CCR, and will not be renewing its contract.

"Our licence for RF Online is due to expire shortly and unfortunately, despite several weeks of negotiations with CCR, the Korean developers of the title, we have not been able to reach an agreement to renew the contract," said the company in a statement.

"This means that Codemasters will no longer have the right to operate the service in the Western territories it currently provides service in and therefore we are obliged to shut down all associated game services before the licence expires."

The last full day of service for the game is November 9, with servers shut down for good on November 10.

New accounts can no longer be opened, and the company will not be selling any more in-game credits.

RF Online was Codemasters first MMO title and has been running for three years.
