The CMP Game Group, hosts of the annual Game Developers Conference, has announced a new partnership with The Hollywood Reporter to create the first Hollywood and Games convergence summit.
As the relationship between film studios and videogames publishers and developers continues to grow, the summit organisers have seen the need for a new event, for which editorial teams both from the games and the movie industry are collaborating to establish a fresh programme agenda.
Jamil Moledina, GDC director stated: "It seemed only natural to join forces with The Hollywood Reporter, the leading entertainment industry news source, to co-host an event focused on the growing collaboration between the two industries. By combining our resources and expertise, we can assure the quality of material presented during the summit, as well as attract the most relevant attendees."
Scheduled to take place at the Beverley Hills hotel in California on the 27th June 2006, the event is designed to allow leaders from both industries to communicate, exchange ideas and form strategic relationships for the creation, development and marketing of cross-media products.
Small scale exhibits, plenty of networking opportunities and focused sessions dealing with issues including design, music, production, art, and rights management will be available, in addition to various speaker sessions.
Chris Marlowe, editorial director of digital media for The Hollywood Reporter, added: "Some of Hollywood's most creative and successful crossovers have resulted from game visionaries collaborating with their counterparts in movies, television and music. In the same vein, we're excited about the crossover opportunities that arise by partnering with industry leader CMP on a new and needed event."
Interested parties can sign up for further information from the Hollywood and Games website, and new details relating to the programme of events are expected to be released in January.
