Kristien Wendt's PR firm joins up.

20th November 2008

Immediate news release

Character Communications is the first PR and communications company to join Tiga.

Established in January 2007 by Kristien Wendt, Character is a branding and communications consultancy focused specifically on the games industry. For over 10 years, Kristien developed a successful career in advertising, working for clients such as Alfa Romeo and SKY, before joining Rebellion as their head of communications in 2004. Character has a range of clients and continues to responsible for all of Rebellion’s communications, including advertising, promotion and game launches.

Kristien Wendt, Director of Character Communications, says “Becoming the first PR and communications company to join Tiga is very important to us. The UK’s interactive entertainment industry is one of the most exciting, dynamic and innovative in the world, and companies that recognise the advantage of raising their profile and that of their products, will benefit, even in the current economic climate. Character is in the best position to offer essential communications services to Tiga members and the UK games community, and we look forward to adding value to the evolving Tiga network.”

Richard Wilson, CEO of Tiga, says ““Character Communications has a vision for games developers: they believe developers can be masters of their own destinies. Alternatives routes to market, development of new ideas and IPs and game innovations need confident communication to industry and consumers alike. This requires a balance of industry experience and marketing expertise. Character knows how games development works. They also know how to communicate effectively, creatively and confidently within limited budgets. Character has already made an important contribution to the work of a number of game developers and will continue to do so in the future.

“In a world where games have become more popular than music and DVDs, Tiga is also changing. We are engaging more effectively with politicians and with policy makers, we are raising the media profile of the video games industry and, as demonstrated by Character’s decision to join Tiga, we are expanding the range of disciplines and services available to Tiga members.

“With the services Character provide, our members will have access to a level of communications professionalism relatively few companies currently embrace. Working with the services that our affiliate network offers, developers will be able to represent themselves and the industry as a whole effectively and competitively.”
