CGS Live Broadcast Beginning July 9 on DIRECTV's Original Entertainment Channel, The 101
History will be made on Monday July 9 when the Championship Gaming Series (CGS) begins live TV coverage on DIRECTV's original entertainment channel, The 101, beginning at 10pm EST - 7pm PST. Shooting from Raleigh Studios in Manhattan Beach, this will be the first time in history that a gaming competition will be televised as a live sporting event.
Chicago Chimera currently tops the Region 1 standings, but the field remains extremely close between Chimera, San Francisco OptX, New York 3D, L.A. compLexity, Dallas Venom and Carolina Core. The matches have been tightly contested in Counter-Strike: Source, Dead or Alive 4, Project Gotham Racing 3 and FIFA 07.
The groundbreaking coverage will commence on July 9 with two, 2-hour weekly shows on The 101. Emmy Award-winning sports producer Mike Burks will take the helm of the CGS television coverage, applying his expertise in sports to capture the thrilling atmosphere and non-stop action of CGS league events. CGS coverage will also feature behind the scenes and background segments on each of the six teams during league telecasts.
