Cellfun reaches 3m milestone

Ad-supported service sees 50 per cent growth in 3 months

Social gaming portal Cellfun has announced it has reached a milestone of 3 million mobile game downloads.

Since December 2006, the firm has seen a monthly increase of 250,000 downloads and a 50 per cent growth per quarter.

Cellfun offers ad-supported free content to subscribers, with a range of connected and real-time multiplayer games on offer for high-end handsets.

"We're seeing mobile gaming consumers participate in more dynamic, challenging games with other members of the community," commented Arthur Goikhman, CEO of Cellfun.

"Because we offer a variety of titles to suit varied tastes, our community attracts all ages abilities and nationalities, creating a powerful demographic base for the advertisers that help keep the gaming experience free for consumers," he said.

Cellfun research shows that its gaming community is 80 per cent English speaking, while the site also supports Spanish, French and Russian, with more languages planned.

Gamers in the US, South Africa and India are the most active in the community, with players on average downloading one or two games per visit.
