Cellfish Media secures $10m investment

Brings total for funding round to $60m

Mobile entertainment provider Cellfish Media has secured additional funding of USD 10 million from the Solidarity Fund QFL.

As a result, the company's first round financing now stands at $60 million - the largest funding round to date of any mobile entertainment firm in North America.

According to CEO Fabrice Sergent, the investment will be used "to accelerate our consumer offerings" as the company looks to offer content "in new ways beyond traditional distribution models".

Cellfish Media publishes brands such as Barrio Mobile, BlingGames and BlingTones, and distributes third-party content including games, ringtones, wallpapers and videos.

Sergent said the company plans on "expanding its services and partnerships with a major product launch set for the summer of 2007". Cellfish is already one of the top five content providers in France, North America and Germany in terms of revenue.

"We are proud to invest directly in companies such as Cellfish Media that have successfully penetrated high-potential markets and generated over nine-figure revenue performance annually since 2005," commented Solidarity Fund QFL's Jacques Bernier.

Cellfish plans to make "several major announcements" regarding its offerings in the coming months.
