HAMBURG, Germany – January 21, 2009 – The Casual Games Association, the international trade organization of the casual games industry, today announced that Casual Connect Europe 2009, the world’s largest casual games conference series, will take place February 10-12 in Hamburg, Germany.

Casual games are designed for everyone, everywhere. They appeal to all types of consumers and can be played on any gaming platform, from computers to game consoles, to handheld game devices and mobile phones, to interactive television. This mass appeal has resulted in exponential growth, capturing consumers who never envisioned themselves as gamers. The online and mobile casual games business worldwide was a $2.25 billion industry in 2007 with more than 200 million people playing casual games online each month.

Speakers and Sessions

Casual Connect Europe 2009 provides attendees with the opportunity to explore cutting-edge casual games topics with the leaders in the space. This year, featured speakers include:

• John Barbour, President of RealGames;

• Lars Brubaker, CEO, Reflexive Entertainment (a division of Amazon.com);

• Tomer Ben-Kiki, CEO of Oberon Media/I-Play

Conference sessions will cover a wide range of subjects, including design and development, social gaming, consumer marketing, advertising and mobile opportunities. Sessions topics include:

• Defining the business of social networks

• iPhone development and mobile gaming trends of the future

• Introduction to console platform development

• How to survive a recession in the casual games business

• Analyzing top 10 lists across the online portals

New Venue

For the past three years, Casual Connect Europe has been held in Amsterdam, but the 2009 event will be located at the Congress Center Hamburg. Congress Center Hamburg is a state-of-the-art modern facility that hosts about 150,000 participants attending an average of 200 congresses and meetings every year.
