CAPCOM TO UNVEIL LOST PLANET MULTIPLAYER MODE AT LEIPZIG GAMES CONVENTION

London - 7 July 2006 - Capcom today confirmed that Leipzig Games Convention will mark the global debut for the multiplayer mode of Lost Planet, its hotly anticipated action shooter for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Showing in Capcom's dedicated Lost Planet stand, visitors will be able to participate in highly intense four vs four team battles as they struggle not only against the opposing force, but the harsh conditions of the game's ice-bound world. Leipzig Games Convention will showcase just one of the numerous multiplayer maps and modes that will compliment Lost Planet's gripping single player campaign mode at its release in early 2007. Interest in Lost Planet has been extremely high since the game's debut in playable form at this year's E3 and a demo being made available for download from Marketplace, one of the services offered on Xbox Live®. Hiroshi Tobisawa, President of Capcom Europe, commented: "Over 400,000 Xbox 360 owners have already downloaded the single player demo from Marketplace showing that Lost Planet is already a highly anticipated title. The multiplayer mode shows Capcom's commitment to take full advantage of the Xbox Live service and deliver an absorbing multiplayer experience to its three million subscribers." Richard Teversham, EMEA Director of Marketing and platform, Xbox, confirmed Microsoft's support for the title: "We're impressed with the positive reaction to Lost Planet's single player mode at both a consumer and trade level and with the unveiling of the multiplayer mode at the Games Convention in Leipzig, expectation for the game, which is exclusive to Xbox 360 will only grow." In Lost Planet, human snow pirates navigate VS (Vital Suits) through hostile ice-covered environments, fighting against the indigenous Akrid creatures for the precious thermal energy they need to survive. For one such pilot named Wayne, death almost seemed imminent until he was fortunately rescued. However, he can only remember a few fragments of his past including the slaying of his father by the monstrous beings. Yet under the veil of ice, a devious plot has been set into motion by NEVEC. What really happened to Wayne and how will his destiny become intertwined with NEVEC's plans? Capcom is a leading worldwide developer, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment.
