Capcom profits up 300% on Monster Hunter success

Dead Rising and Super Street fighter IV selling well in Europe/US

Profits at Capcom are up 294 per cent to ¥6.83 billion ($83.9m / £51.7m) for the first nine months of the year, due to the soaring success of Monster Hunter Freedom 3.

The game has shipped over four million units since release, helping sales for the nine month period hit ¥70.77 billion ($868.8m / £535.7m), an increase of 41.6 per cent.

Dead Rising 2 and Super Street Fighter IV continue to perform well in Europe and the US, shipping 2 million and 1.6 million units, respectively.

PlayStation 3 and Wii title Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes and PSP game Monhan Nikki Pokapoka Airu Mura are both performing well in Japan, said the publisher.

Lost Planet 2, released earlier in the year, has now sold 1.5 million units, less than anticipated.
