canada.com Puts Macrovision’s New Web Games Feature into Play

Web Games Enhance Game Download Service

San Jose, CA (Game Developers Conference) March 21, 2006 -- Macrovision Corporation's (Nasdaq: MVSN) Trymedia® Games Division today announced the launch of web gameplay through their game distribution service. canada.com is the first of Macrovision's Trymedia Network game distribution affiliates to take advantage of the web gameplay offering. A selection of top web games can be played online at http://games.canada.com as part of a full downloadable games store solution provided by Macrovision.

"Free web gameplay gives consumers a quick and easy way to try a game," said Fred Amoroso, CEO of Macrovision. "When someone has already played a game and enjoyed it, the decision to purchase the game becomes that much simpler. Web games are a powerful evaluation tool for the discerning game buyer and an important up-sell tool for the retailer and web portal."

The first titles that offer the 'instant play' feature on canada.com include such popular casual games as Mah Jong Quest, Bejeweled 2 Deluxe, Jewel Quest, Insaniquarium, Scrabble Rack Attack, Puzzle Express, Word Mojo Gold, Ant War, AstroPop Deluxe and 5 Card Slingo Deluxe. Web games enhance Macrovision's extensive downloadable games services by providing entertaining content to ISPs, portals and online retailers that gives web users an increased number of reasons to spend more time on their site. In addition, the ease with which consumers can try out games online contributes to the conversion rate of games downloaded and purchased.

""Casual gamers make up a large portion of the population who are downloading games from canada.com," said Mario Alfano, senior vice president of marketing and strategy at canada.com. "We're taking advantage of Macrovision's latest game distribution feature and creating a place where our visitors can linger and enjoy the latest mainstream games."

Previously, a majority of the more than 1200 PC games in the Trymedia catalog provided consumers with two options, either 'download trial free' -- which can then be purchased at a later date to unlock the full version -- or 'buy full version' via download. A new 'play online free' button gives consumers a third option to play select games online for an unlimited time, without any download required. The games that offer the web play option are conveniently located under a 'web games' tab in canada.com's games channel.
