Call of Duty makes it seven weeks as the UK's number one
Activision's shooter ends the remastered GTA V's run at the top
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare returned to the top of the UK charts last week, bringing the remastered Grand Theft Auto V's stay in first place to an end.
That makes it seven weeks at the top each, though Grand Theft Auto's ongoing popularity is far more impressive. After all, this is effectively a refurbished version of a game that first dominated the retail charts back in 2013.
More than anything, though, it demonstrates just how static the retail charts have become, relative to the actual breadth of the games industry. Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto and FIFA 15 have occupied the top three places in the software charts for more than a month - as much an indicator of the paucity of appealing new releases as the size of the hard sales figures.
