Busy Scissors
A cut above the rest at gamescom 2010, reckons Little Orbit.
August 2010 – (New York, NY); Little Orbit LLC, publisher and developer of casual computer entertainment products, and Redken 5th Avenue NYC, international salon cosmetics brand, today released a showcase video from Gamescom 2010 where they participated in Europe’s biggest computer games exhibition. This annual event takes place in Cologne Germany and the exhibition usually attracts around 255,000 visitors making it the largest event of its kind in the world. The Redken tour bus rolled up in the public arena where it offered consumers the opportunity to sharpen their styling skills with Busy Scissors ® , a hairstyling and simulation game designed for the Nintendo Wii TM and DS TM .
“The show was a massive success”, said Matthew Scott, CEO, Little Orbit LLC. “The stand was constantly overrun by the media who were excited by the product. At one stage we had three cameras crews wanting to film - we had to ask one team to hold off whilst the other two finished recording footage! In addition, German TV station NTL were on site throughout the show broadcasting live every few hours. They chose to broadcast from our stand for their second live link up – we were thrilled with this exposure.”
Busy Scissors ® video game is scheduled for release on Nintendo Wii TM and DS TM in North America and Europe 4Q 2010. The game will be called in French “Coiffure Académie ® ” and in German “Dein Friseursalon ® ”
“We are excited to share the behind-the-scenes salon professional experience with our clients via Busy Scissors ® ,” states Gabriel Langeveld, Managing Director of Redken Germany. “Busy Scissors ® is a new way for consumers to connect and engage with Redken by allowing them to interact directly with Redken products in the virtual salon.”
Get ready to color, shampoo, cut, blow dry, and style hair with the Wii remote. Players earn reputation and advance their career in a Hollywood based salon by meeting the demands of their glamorous and eccentric clientele. The game progresses as they help unlock each client’s inner potential by finding their unique outward style. The game features over 25 hairstyles, 20 mini-games, 6 career levels, and 4 game modes, which provide a dynamic combination of realistic gameplay, humor, and entertainment.
Manifest Oranj, the game’s developer, spent months working with industry experts to emulate the real hair styles used in the game. Each salon technique was demonstrated and filmed by the team, before it was re-created in 3D and designed as a mini-game. Additionally, professional styling tools from Sam Villa like the Sleekr flat iron are incorporated into the game as key tools to achieve the looks that clients crave.
