New York, NY – Mar. 24, 2010 – World Cyber Games Inc. (WCG), organizer of the premier international video game competition and festival, announced today that marketing expert Bruce Loeb has joined the United States office as Senior Vice President and General Manager. Loeb will be responsible for managing the WCG’s activities in the US and broadening the appeal of competitive gaming for World Cyber Games. Loeb will also host the WCG 2010 Grand Final in Los Angeles later this year.
“Gaming is a core part of entertainment in America today, and is becoming more important each year,” said Loeb. “I want to capitalize on the emotion and excitement of competitive gaming so we can showcase the skills and dedication of gamers on the global stage of the World Cyber Games.”
Loeb’s experience includes work as the VP of Marketing for Pokémon USA from 2001 to early 2008, where he drove marketing and brand strategies for the successful Pokémon franchise, and rejuvenated the popular Japanese brand to its strongest year in six years. After concentrating on the children’s entertainment and video game market, Loeb is excited to focus on a wider demographic with World Cyber Games – at events and on TV.
“Bruce Loeb’s appointment as the head of the US office will help nurture and expand the World Cyber Game’s passionate fan base and quality partners,” said Hyoung Seok Kim, CEO of WCG. “Mr. Loeb’s success integrating brands into television properties will be very helpful as we hold the WCG 2010 Grand Final in Los Angeles and create the second season of ‘WCG Ultimate Gamer.’”
Loeb’s previous experience includes roles as VP of Marketing at the toy company Techno Source, and with major consumer product companies such as Colgate Palmolive and Nabisco. He holds a MBA in Marketing and Finance from Columbia University Business School, and a BSE in Marketing and Management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Bruce Loeb will be working in the US Headquarters office in New York, and resides in Manhattan with his wife and daughter.
