Bold new price points for Imagine's next generation magazines
Bournemouth-based publisher delivers even better value for money with re-pricing of key next generation videogames titles
For Immediate Release 26 July 2007
Imagine Publishing has introduced a bold new pricing strategy for three of its videogames titles which cover all main videogames hardware formats. From today 360 will retail for £2.75, while PSU3, aimed at the high-end PlayStation 3 user, and nRevolution, a magazine for Nintendo lovers, will both sell for £2.99 - £1 less than previous issues and in some cases up to £2 less than their rivals.
With this aggressive strategy, these magazines are set to challenge the established price point and covermount strategy of their rivals, offering readers the opportunity to buy a high quality videogames magazine without shouldering the cost of expensive promotional packages. This is only possible thanks to Imagine's ability to quickly react to ever-changing market forces and this marks a move away from the current trend of an ever-increasing price point for games magazines.
Nick Jones, Editor in Chief of PlayStation titles said: "This change in strategy enables us to offer our readers a wider choice. For the hardcore gamers we have Play and X360, both with strong promotional packages, and now, with the repositioned PSU3 and 360, we can offer mature readers high quality magazines without the premium pricepoint."
Simon Phillips, Editor in Chief of Xbox 360 titles, games and nRevolution said: "We're thrilled to be able to offer our readers even better value for money without any compromise to the quality of the magazines. This kind of move could only be achieved by such an ambitious and fast-moving company such as Imagine Publishing. I'll be interested to see if the rivals follow our lead."
Imagine Publishing is one of the UK's fastest growing consumer specialist publishers. Formed in May 2005, it now publishes 20 magazines and 20 websites in the videogames, computing, entertainment and photography markets. An Imagine magazine is purchased every ten seconds.
