Blue Sphere Games brings Dilbert to mobile phones
Satirical comic-strip character makes his wireless gaming debut
UK mobile content developers and publishers Blue Sphere Games has announced the first mobile phone game featuring Dilbert and associated characters from Scott Adams' world renowned comic strips.
The Birmingham-based firm announced in May this year that it had secured a two-year European licensing deal with United Media, for the creation and publishing of a range of exclusive Dilbert mobile content, including ringtones, wallpapers, icons, animated GIFs and episodes of the comic strip itself.
The new game, Dilbert: Cubicle Chase, challenges players to run a checkpoint race between office cubicles, trying to avoid attracting attention from senior staff or meeting the boss and receiving more work to do. The game features several familiar characters and Dilbert can interact with them, attempting to delegate his workload in order to speed up his progress and beat co-worker Wally to the finish.
Blue Sphere Games' managing director, Stuart Scott, said: "This Dilbert game is full of fantastic graphics and extraordinary sound effects. It's probably the very first of its kind and includes all of the well known Dilbert characters."
Founded in 2002, Blue Sphere Games specialises in the development and publishing of Java-based mobile games and content. The company has a growing portfolio of branded and original titles compatible with over 250 handsets, localised in more than 15 different languages and distributed through strategic partners in over 60 countries around the world.
In addition to an extensive library of sports, action, puzzle and arcade games, the company continues to seek exclusive licensing partnerships and brand publishing rights to boost its portfolio of games and content. In a similar two-year EU brand licensing deal to the United Media agreement, Blue Sphere Games has also partnered with DC Thompson for the creation of dedicated mobile content based on Beano character Dennis The Menace.
