Bloober Team's The Medium delayed to January 2021

Studio attributes decision to impact of COVID-19 and other game launches, likely Cyberpunk 2077 delay

Polish developer Bloober Team has pushed back the release of its upcoming next-generation horror game The Medium, now planning to launch at the start of next year.

In a statement posted on Twitter, the company revealed the game will now arrive on Xbox Series X/S and PC on January 28, 2021.

"It wasn't an easy choice to make, but one made due to the COVID-19 situation in Poland, as well as the current schedule of other games on the market, Bloober Team remains committed to delivering our biggest, most ambitious, fear-inducing experience to date," the studio wrote.

The reference to "other games" likely points to CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077, which was recently delayed to December 10 -- The Medium's original launch date.

Bloober Team says the additional development time will be used to add further polish, with more information on the game to be released in the run-up to its adjusted launch.

The Medium was one of the few next-gen exclusive games heading to Xbox Series X/S around launch, with the vast majority of titles available across both the next and current generation.

We recently spoke to Bloober Team about how it's taking full advantage of the next-gen hardware.
