BlizzCon 2009 confirmed for August
Fourth annual event for Blizzard fans returns to Anaheim Convention Centre this year
Blizzard has announced plans for its fourth BlizzCon event to be held at the Anaheim Convention Centre in California, over August 21-22.
Last year the fan focused event, centred around the Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo franchises, saw record breaking ticket sales and was the first BlizzCon to be televised on cable in the US.
"We've been amazed by the incredible response to each of our previous BlizzCon events," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard.
"We're pleased to be bringing the convention back to Anaheim this year, and we look forward to this new opportunity to meet Blizzard gamers from around the world."
While exact details are yet to be revealed, BlizzCon 2009 will feature hands-on play time with upcoming games, discussion panels with Blizzard developers, competitive and casual tournaments, community contests, special edition merchandise and a silent auction.
During an interview with GamesIndustry.biz at last year's BlizzCon, Frank Pearce, Blizzard's senior vice president, explained that the event was about "being open with the fans".
