Blizzard Entertainment announces new survival game IP

Upcoming title will be the company's first original universe since 2016's Overwatch

Blizzard Entertainment yesterday announced the creation of a new franchise in a blog post to recruit talent for the project.

This title would be Blizzard's first original franchise since 2016's team-based shooter Overwatch.

The new game would also be the company's first survival title as well.

Blizzard did not announce who would be leading up the project.

The company has seen significant turnover in its senior ranks since the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing sued Activision Blizzard over alleged gender discrimination last year.

Longtime president J. Allen Brack stepped down shortly after the suit was announced, and one of his successors, Jen Oneal, resigned several months later.

Overwatch executive producer Chacko Sonny also left the company in September.

The developer ranks have also been hit, as Diablo 4 game director Luis Barriga, lead designer Jesse McCree, and World of Warcraft designer Jonathan LeCraft all left the company within weeks of the suit being filed.
