BlitzTech

Middleware fully supporting Sony's latest handheld.

18 FEBRUARY 2010 LEAMINGTON SPA, UK Blitz Games Studios has today announced that its industry-leading middleware, BlitzTech, now includes support for the next generation portable entertainment system (codename: NGP) from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE). After working closely with SCE for many months, Blitz Games Studios is now keen to work with any developers wishing to develop on the platform, which is due for release in late 2011.

Cross platform development is one of the core strengths of BlitzTech and the addition of NGP supports part of a strategy to broaden support across multiple portable and connected platforms. The same comprehensive BlitzTech development tools proven on PlayStation®3 allow developers to fully exploit the power and architecture of NGP to bring high end console quality gaming to a portable platform for the first time using an engine specially optimised for the hardware.

“We’re incredibly excited to be working on SCE’s latest platform,” says Blitz Games Studios’ CTO, Andrew Oliver. “During the time we’ve been working with NGP we’ve been consistently impressed by the potential of the device and are pleased to be able to add it to the growing list of platforms supported by BlitzTech. We look forward to taking it forward ourselves as well as with other developers.”
