Blackjack
Coming book hero signed by Interactive Licensing Management.
24th July 2009 San Diego, Interactive Licensing Management has agreed to a deal with Dark Angel Productions to represent the comic book property BLACKJACK. The deal will include all current and future interactive platforms and give access to the author, Alex Simmons, who has a wealth of experience in the comic book and mainstream publishing industry and has, alongside Blackjack penned Tarzan, Batman: Orpheus Rising, Scooby Doo and more recently Archie Comics.
BLACKJACK has recently had the option taken on a movie adaptation by “award winning independent filmmaker Joe Doughrity, who is currently shopping the property to major Hollywood studios" and is at an exciting period of its development.
“In a time where originality of storyline and character development is severely lacking, Blackjack is a great property for interactive and having Alex’s personal involvement is a real incentive for any publisher or developer. He brings so much creatively and is a truly inspirational figure in the comic book World. ” Said David Colley, Managing Director of Interactive Licensing Management Ltd.
Alex Simmons said “I’ve known both David Colley and Joe Doughrity for a long time, and both have always proven to be men of commitment, vision as well as team players,” Simmons said. “It will take all that and more to bring a quality realization of Blackjack to both the movie and video game arena. I’m excited about the possibilities, as well as plans we’ve made. “
ABOUT BLACKJACK
Arron Day is the man called BLACKJACK. From the late 1920s to the late 1940s he was the most formidable freelance adventurer of them all. BLACKJACK’S missions took him from Harlem to the French Riviera, Cairo, and the jungles of Brazil. Bodyguard for hire and soldier of fortune, he took on many assignments, from guarding diplomats to hunting down ruthless killers. An independent black man in a racist age, BLACKJACK carved his own path--and left his mark on history.
The son of Matthew Day, Arron Day has been an adventurer, a fighter, and a soldier of fortune most of his life. As a boy Arron, his sister Mary, and their mother, Sarah, accompanied Matthew around the world on many of his mercenary contracts. Arron learned to fight, trained by Matthew's comrades like Silas Lincoln and Kentaro Insuyin. When his parents were murdered in Spain in 1923 Arron and his sister were left on their own, and Arron soon followed in his father's footsteps as a mercenary. He took the nom de guerre Blackjack, a name that would eventually become legend.
