Birth of America 2: Wars in America
Includes a recreation of the Battle of New Orleans, another British success story.
10th September 2008
Birth of America II: Wars in America 1750-1815 is the sequel to the successful strategy PC game Birth of America. Due for release on the 19th September 2008 by Ascaron and AGEOD, the new historically accurate battle strategy game allows players to experience wars in North America between the years of 1750 and 1815.
The Battle of New Orleans in January 1815, fought between British and Americans, was the final major battle of the War of 1812. British General Pakenham, unaware that the peace Treaty of Ghent had been signed, led 300 troops to invade America’s vast Western lands. Outnumbered by over 2000 American soldiers, Pakenham was significantly defeated, fleeing with his troops from the region of Louisiana.
The campaign can be played as the Americans, leading forces into battle as General Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States. To win The Battle of New Orleans, players must conquer five strategic cities and ensure that the objectives of Nouvelle Orleans, Grand Ecor Blanc, La Borgne and Pontchartrain are successfully completed.
If the player bravely decides to try and conquer New Orleans as the British, they can rule as General Sir Edward Pakenham. Victory will be claimed if the battle ends with the British in control of two strategic cities and all objectives completed successfully. However, players must be aware of the hazardous bayou creeks and US fortifications that act as dangerous traps for the British troops.
The Battle of New Orleans historically ended with an American victory with General Pakenham dead and British troops retreating from the region. However, the game gives players the opportunity to change this, taking victory for Pakenham and altering the course of history.
