Birth of America 2: Wars in America
Aim to change history by helping the native Indians win power.
7th August 2008
Birth of America II: Wars in America 1750-1815 is the sequel to the successful historical strategy PC game Birth of America. Due for release in September 2008 by Ascaron and AGEOD, the new historically accurate battle strategy game allows players to experience wars in North America between the years of 1750 and 1815.
Dunmore's War took place in 1773-1774 between the Colony of Virginia and the Indian nations of Shawnee and Mingo. After escalating violence over land settlements, war was declared by Lord Dunmore whose elite militia soon defeated the Indians. As a result, rival Indian tribes were created and later allegiances were formed in the build up to the battle for independence.
In Birth of America II, the Dunmore’s War campaign specifically focuses on the months of March to December 1774. Players take on the role of Lord Dunmore, the British Royal Governor of Virginia in command of British Colonia Militia, or Chief Cornstalk, head of the Shawnee and Mingo natives. Maps that accurately represent historic North America, including Ohio County where Dunmore’s War took place, become the setting as conflict begins.
Lord Dunmore and Shawnee Chief Cornstalk must battle for control of four strategic cities, whilst defending their own colonial settlements or native villages. True to history, the Shawnee natives must implement tactical raids on colonial settlements, while the militia aim to capture native villages and destroy Indian armies. A clever combination of tactical attacks and belligerent defensive manoeuvres are needed to successfully capture the disputed land.
