Bill Roper to head up Disney's Marvel franchise

Blizzard veteran will oversee all Marvel projects and establish new developer relationships

Disney Interactive Media Group has appointed Bill Roper as vice president of the Marvel franchise.

In addition to supervising the creation of all future Marvel-based games, Roper will also help to build relationships with developers for future projects.

"We are pleased to have Bill join our team," said Alex Seropian, Disney Interactive's senior vice president and general manager of core games.

"With 17 years of experience in the worldwide gaming industry, we are confident that Bill has the creative vision necessary to help guide the next wave of development and product for DIMG's Marvel Games."

Roper served as vice president of Diablo developer Blizzard North from 1994 to 2003, but left to establish Flagship Studios, which was dissolved in 2008.

He then joined Cryptic Studios to work on Champions Online, but resigned in August 2010 to look for "new opportunities."
