Berlin launch for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Hideo Kojima and special guests head to The Teufelsberg secret service base to celebrate launch of new Metal Gear installment...
Konami of Europe has announced it will be holding a special launch event in Berlin to celebrate the imminent release of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for PlayStation 2. Series creator Hideo Kojima, legendary artist Yoji Shinkawa and a host of undisclosed special guests will all convene for a special press event and party in their honour on the eve of the game's March 4th launch.
The celebrations will begin with a special, panel-based press conference where invited journalists will be able to quiz Mr. Kojima, Mr. Shinkawa and other members of the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater cast and crew about the production of the game, its new Cold War setting, and its content and twisting plot. Following this, guests will then be taken to an extravagant launch party held in a suitably covert location: The Teufelsberg - one of the most significant spy bases in history, and a precursor to the spy-ware featured in the three Metal Gear Solid games.
The Teufelsberg was a secret service listening post based in Berlin. It was used by the US-American secret service NSA (National Security Agency) and latterly the British secret service as a listening station. Playing host to incredibly sensitive listening devices, it allowed the respective agencies to pick up all radio and telephone traffic in a wide radius that reached Moscow, and was recognised as a huge asset to the secret service and the military.
For the launch party, Konami will split the building's unique structure into a number of areas. Rooms will be dedicated to dancing, partying, chilling out, playing the game and reliving the history of this amazing venue. The remoteness of The Teufelsberg's location and its incredible history will ensure a fitting launch for one of Konami of Europe's most eagerly anticipated titles.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is released for PlayStation 2 on March 4th, 2005. For more information, please contact Steve Merrett at Voltage PR on 020 7903 5122 or email steve@voltagepr.com.
