Beatles songs licensed to Rock Band - report

Further details expected from Apple Corps and MTV at 2pm today

MTV and Harmonix have licensed music by The Beatles for the Rock Band franchise.

That's according to a report by the Wall Street Journal citing "several people familiar with the matter". Apple Corps and MTV have scheduled a press conference for 2pm this afternoon, where an "exclusive agreement to develop [an] unprecedented global music project," will be made official, according to the companies.

Although songs have been licensed, details are not yet clear on which specific tracks from the group's back catalogue will be included in any future projects.

Back in June, it was reported that representatives for Apple Corps were in talks with MTV and rival Activision to use The Beatles' music in future videogames.
