Bandai Namco revenues up 15.5% to $5.4bn
Publisher saw growth across its game businesses driven by Japanese releases
Bandai Namco has released its financial results for the nine months ended December 31 2021, reporting a 15.5% year-over-year increase in revenue to ¥628.3 billion ($5.4 billion).
The firm's operating profit also rose by 26.4% to ¥92.1 billion ($799 million) compared to the same period last year.
In its Network Entertainment segment, which covers gaming, net sales reached ¥242.3 billion ($2.1 billion), a 9.5% increase on last year. Operating profit in the same section reached ¥37.6 billion ($3.2 billion), a 7.9% increase year-over-year.
However, the Home Video Game segment accounted for ¥131.9 billion ($1.4 billion) during the nine months, a 16% decrease compared to the same period last year.
The company launched 42 new titles in Japan during the fiscal period, 36 titles in the Americas and 39 in Europe, which sold three million, 15 million, and 18 million copies, respectively.
Altogether with duplicate releases across multiple territories, that equates to 49 new titles released with a combined sales figure of 36 million units.
The majority of Bandai Namco's combined revenue for the period also came from Japan; ¥459.2 billion ($3.9 billion) was generated in the country alone, which equates to 73% of all revenues.
Looking ahead, the company forecasts full-year revenues of ¥800 billion ($6.8 billion), a 9.3% increase year-over-year. It also expects operating profit to jump by 13% compared to the previous year, to ¥99 billion ($860 million).
