Awesome Games Done Quick secures $1.5m for charity
Annual speed-running event exceeds target by 50%
Awesome Games Done Quick, an annual speed-running event which raises money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, has exceeded its fund-raising target by 50 per cent and secured over $1.5 million in donations.
The event, which finished up over the weekend, consisted of 160 playthroughs, broadcast via Twitch, which have all been recorded for future viewing. At the time of writing, the grand total for donations stood at $1,544,484.26, with the largest single donation, from Humble Bundle, an incredible $191,547.21. The average contribution was $39.66.
Several games, old and new, were covered by the event, with a highlight being a blindfolded playthrough of Ocarina of Time. The event also featured several glitch-heavy exploitation runs and single online, mid-run marriage proposal.
